Taekwondo Belt TestingA Belt Test Registration form must be filled out prior to any test. In order for students to advance in rank, we have monthly belt tests. Belt testing is a way for us to test our students and ensure that they know everything that is needed to hold their next rank. It is suggested that a student test every two to three months in order to further their learning in the art of Taekwondo. Usually if a student is ready to test, the master and/or instructor will suggest testing to the student. The test is a test of the students knowledge as well as physical ability. Students should focus on technique, not just remembering the movements. Belt testing is usually held on a Friday (dates are always posted on the schedule). Students are informed whether they pass or fail after the next class they attend. There is a belt ceremony the following Friday. Students are then awarded their new belts and promotion certificates. We ask that all parents and students keep in mind that advancing is a process. Please do not get caught up in the idea that you must get your black belt as soon as you can. Being a black belt does not mean you are automatically better than the other students, nor does it mean that you are an expert in Taekwondo. A black belt means that you have put in time and effort towards a goal. It means that you have collectively learned what was needed to achieve that rank. Please remember Taekwondo is NOT over when you reach Black Belt. |
